It really depends on your situation. If you are new to credit (meaning you don't yet have a credit file), adding rent, phone, and utility accounts may have a significant impact on building your credit score - especially if you have 24 months of payment history for your accounts. If you already have a well-established credit file, adding these types of accounts may not help much, if at all. If you have a limited credit file (which we call a "thin file"), adding these types of accounts may help build a better credit score.
